In their own words

AZ

Azlan Zainudin

F&B Owner, Bangsar

"I came in with a tangle of concerns about my restaurant — staffing, margin, whether to open a second location. Ahmad didn't rush me toward any particular answer. By the end of the session I had a clearer sense of what actually mattered and what was noise. The written note afterwards was more useful than I expected."

Nurul Hidayah Ismail

Boutique Owner, Petaling Jaya

"The People and Roles Review helped me name something I had been feeling for months — that the way my small team was structured wasn't quite right, but I couldn't say exactly why. The suggestions we arrived at were sensible and gentle, not a wholesale restructure. It took about five weeks and felt calm throughout."

Zulkifli Rashid

Logistics SME, Shah Alam

"We've been on the Trusted Companion arrangement for eight months now. The monthly meetings are not long, but they are consistent — and that consistency is what makes the relationship useful. My advisor has a clear picture of where we've been and where we are now. That context matters more than I thought it would."

Faridah Nasir

Accounting Firm, KLCC

"What struck me most was the absence of pressure. I've had advisory conversations before where I felt pushed toward a particular conclusion, or where the advisor seemed more invested in their answer than in my question. Budi Pakar is genuinely different in that respect. I felt heard."

Rajan Krishnamurthy

IT Services, Subang Jaya

"I started with the People and Roles Review because we had two staff members whose responsibilities had become blurred as the company grew. The review process surfaced things I hadn't quite articulated. Some of the suggestions needed adapting to our situation, but having the written summary to work from was very practical."

"Running a creative studio means the 'business' side often goes unexamined. A single Counsel Session helped me think through a pricing question I'd been avoiding. I didn't leave with a formula — I left with a much better understanding of what I actually value and why the price I'd been charging didn't reflect it."

Longer stories from the practice

The Challenge

An owner facing a staff departure and a gap in the leadership structure

A Kuala Lumpur-based health products retailer with six staff lost her most senior employee unexpectedly. In the months that followed, responsibilities shifted informally, creating overlaps and tensions that she could feel but not name.

The Arrangement

People & Roles Review across five weeks

Two sessions were used to map how responsibilities had migrated informally and where friction was arising. We avoided prescribing a fixed structure and instead helped the owner articulate what arrangements felt right for her team's particular culture and pace.

What Shifted

Clearer roles, less daily friction

"The review gave me a language for what was happening. Within six weeks of making some simple adjustments we suggested together, the informal complaints had largely settled. I hadn't expected that kind of result from two conversations." — Owner, health products retail, KL. Timeline: 5 weeks.

The Challenge

A founder unsure whether to take on a partner

A management consultant working independently in Petaling Jaya had been approached by a former colleague about a potential partnership. The financial logic seemed sound, but something about the decision felt unresolved. He had been circling it for three months.

The Arrangement

Single Counsel Session

Rather than analysing the financials — which he had already done thoroughly — the session explored what he was actually weighing: his autonomy, his working style, his relationship with risk, and what he hoped the business would look like in five years. We helped him surface his own reasoning rather than supply our own.

What Shifted

A decision made, and understood

"I decided not to proceed — but that wasn't the point. The point was that I finally understood why I was hesitating, which meant I could act clearly rather than continuing to postpone. That clarity was worth more than any recommendation." — Independent consultant, PJ. Timeline: 1 session.
